About the team: The Credit Assurance team sits within the Group's Risk Assurance Function which reports to the Group Head of Risk Assurance and is overseen by the Chief Compliance Officer. The Team supports the Bank by providing independent and composite qualitative and quantitative credit risk monitoring and assurance on lending and credit activities including adherence to Credit Risk Frameworks, Appetite, Policies, and procedures as well as assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of Credit Decisioning. The team is exceptionally flexible with a strong spirit of collaboration, fostering a highly positive and productive work environment. In addition, we are also responsible for providing assurance on the performance of the Financial Support Team, checking policy and process adherence and assessing how this transpires into good customer outcomes via various Quality Assurance activities within First Line.

What you will be doing: As the Credit Risk Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Credit Risk Assurance Manager in overseeing and managing the credit risk assurance operating framework within the Group. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Being the "go to" Credit Risk Subject Specialist expert in relation to Bridging, Commercial, Asset Finance and Development Finance and Residential providing specific qualitative opinion on the credit quality of counterparties reviewed and through extrapolation of the cohort.
  • Assisting the Senior Manager with the formulation of the annual review plan resultant from review of outcomes and intelligence, maintaining a strong relationship with Credit Strategy.
  • Delivering the annual risk prioritised assurance plan of review activity, allocating resources and capability to ensure the plan is met. This includes planning, sampling, testing and the reporting of findings in line with documented methodologies.
  • Line managing and coaching all direct reports, including all aspects of performance management, development, conduct, sickness management, appraisals, employee administration and recruitment.
  • Interacting with the Senior Manager and the Group Head of Risk Assurance to communicate, share and close out review findings, emerging risks, and systemic process improvements.
  • Assisting the Credit Assurance Senior Manager with the embedding of an enhanced framework and methodology, managing direct reports and/or the review team to become a centre of excellence.

  • 3 - 5 years extensive experience of Commercial, Development and Asset Finance lending and structuring.
  • The ability to interpret and analyse data and create effective MI to support decision making is essential.
  • Specialist knowledge of Qualitative Credit Assurance practices or the prolonged maintenance of a material lending mandate/limit is essential.
  • 1 - 2 years' previous line management experience is essential.
