We are looking for two Principal Engineers to provide technical leadership across two critical domains: Payments and Accounts. These roles combine deep technical expertise with strong people and delivery leadership, shaping how we design, build and run payment solutions and drive the development and delivery of the Accounts domain technology platform across the Group.
What you will be doing
- You will drive engineering strategy, lead high‑performing teams, and ensure the delivery of resilient, scalable, and compliant platforms aligned with OSB Group’s technology and business objectives.
Principal Engineer – Payments
- Set and execute the engineering strategy for the payments domain
- Lead the design, build and operation of resilient, high‑performing payments platforms
- Own end‑to‑end technical delivery, including architecture, development, testing, deployment and live operations
- Provide hands‑on leadership across full‑stack engineering teams, driving best practices in quality, automation and cloud‑first engineering
- Oversee integration with UK payment schemes and core banking platforms (including Mambu)
- Ensure regulatory compliance and operational resilience across all payments services
- Partner with product, architecture and business teams to translate customer and regulatory requirements into scalable solutions
- Manage supplier and partner relationships to ensure delivery meets organisational standards
Principal Engineer – Accounts
- Define and execute the engineering strategy for the Accounts domain
- Lead the design and delivery of core capabilities, including account onboarding, deposits, savings, interest and lifecycle management
- Drive integration with core banking platforms (including Mambu) and surrounding systems
- Own end‑to‑end delivery, including development, testing, deployment and change governance
- Establish cloud architecture, security and cost optimisation practices
- Oversee integrations with CRM/CIAM, payments services and data platforms
- Ensure reliability, scalability and regulatory compliance across account services
- Lead engineering teams across APIs, orchestration and backend services

Do you have the skills
- Significant experience in a senior technical leadership role within banking or financial services
- Deep expertise in the payments domain, including real‑time payments, cards, BACS, CHAPS, Open Banking and APIs or Core Banking/Accounts domain
- Proven experience designing, scaling and operating secure, high‑performance payments and/or savings platforms
- Strong background in core banking systems/platforms (Mambu), cloud‑native architectures, microservices and DevOps practices
- Solid understanding of regulatory, risk and compliance requirements (e.g. PSD2, PCI DSS, GDPR)
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and modern data platforms
