About the team

If you are interested in joining a busy IT department that is rising to meet the needs of an evolving post-merger environment, then this could be the right role for you. You will manage a platform technology team which consists of Platform Engineers and have access to the wider design teams to support the co-ordinated design. Additionally, you will have a resource planning function that works in collaboration with programme and project managers to incorporate low-level designs into technical and resource requests, and a capacity planner who looks ahead to identify constraints and conflicts. You will ensure effective, efficient, and collaborative working relationships between teams with a shared purpose. What you will be doing

You will ensure that the environments for delivering technology are scalable, easy to deploy, and cost-effective to manage. You will be accountable for low-level solution design, working with the architectural team to drive enterprise-ready solutions that are fit for purpose, considering integration, capacity, and environmental requirements to facilitate future changes. This role is critical to the business change function and will be seen as a technical expert, involved in project planning, maintenance, and upgrade planning. You will provide technical assurance for all changes within your technology area and be responsible for the stability of your technologies. You will ensure the capacity, configuration, versioning, and alignment of all related systems are maintained and updated across the stack. You will also oversee non-production environments, ensuring their suitability for changes, consistency, and stability.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing OSB’s non-production and production environments to ensure parity and reduce deployment risks.
  • Managing dependencies and the ripple effect of changes across the tech stack.
  • Coordinating the impact of changes across environments for technical and non-technical teams.
  • Supporting functional areas in environment configuration and baselining.
  • Delivering solution designs and creating configuration documents aligned with SMART principles.
  • Maintaining a Configuration Management database.
  • Leading improvements to configuration management processes.
  • Conducting capacity forecasting and modelling exercises.
  • Managing enhancements to Configuration Management tools via DevOps and Engineering teams.
  • Reviewing and resolving configuration challenges.
  • Defining environment strategy on GCP in collaboration with DevOps, Engineering, Service Delivery, and Testing teams.
  • Managing third-party vendor relationships.
  • Estimating, prioritising, and delivering environment changes.
  • Monitoring environment usage, performance, costs, and capacity planning.
  • Reviewing environment build processes for efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with Risk Management and Data Governance policies.
  • Maintaining compliance standards and completing mandatory training.
  • Line managing and coaching direct reports, including performance management and recruitment.
  • Acting as Risk Champion and working with the Risk team to promote risk awareness.
  • Acting as Relationship Owner for vendors, monitoring service performance, and ensuring security compliance.
