We are a group of skilled and highly collaborative engineers who work within a fast-paced and challenging environment. In addition to supporting the foundational services upon which many OSB systems rely, we work on new and exciting projects to help the business meet its objectives. There are opportunities to learn new enterprise technologies such as VMware vSAN, flash based storage arrays and fibre channel communications. Projects and BAU activities follow a framework set out by ITIL v4 and training and certification would be made available.

The Backup & Storage Engineer will provide technical expertise and guidance working closely with technical teams, architects and customers in all areas of data protection. They must be able to provide support to BAU teams in resolving complex issues, restoring data, performance tuning and writing and maintaining required technical documentation. This role is within our VMware, Storage and Backup team who provide operational support for our HPE/Dell storage technologies whilst providing the underpinning backup and disaster recovery solutions based within the DCs. You will be working within a team to deliver an outstanding level of Storage & Backup Administration (to manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot, and support servers, storage & backup systems) across our systems, ensuring that all the systems meet or exceed their SLAs for their customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure enterprise scalability and performance for storage and backup environments through proactive capacity planning, performance control and configuration adjustment.
- Monitoring the ongoing operation of the systems and providing utilisation reports using existing tools to identify problems and corrective actions as needed.
- Monitor performance, errors, and warnings on compute and storage systems.
- Maintain storage & compute policies and standards.
- Troubleshoot performance problems and propose short term fixes and long-term solutions.
- Ensure the compute & storage estate is kept up to date with regular patching & maintenance of the underlying infrastructure.
In return for your commitment, we offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £46,000 - £55,000 and a competitive benefits package including:

We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:
- Demonstrable previous experience and knowledge of working with multi-vendor SAN Storage, Enterprise Backup technologies and connectivity fabric.
- Excellent knowledge in managing corporate backup environments (Dell IDPA PowerProtect Data Manager, Veeam Backup software and Zerto).
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot complex issues and engage with 3rd parties as required.
- Working knowledge of VMware vSphere and Microsoft Windows platforms.
