Salary – £25,000‑30,000 per annum (pro rata seasonal)

Hours – Full time 37.50 hours per week

Location – Unit 6 Bearl Farm, Stocksfield, Northumberland, NE43 7AL

We are looking for a seasonal assistant ecologist to support our busy team over the season of 2026, starting March and based in our office in Stocksfield. You will work with our ecologists and senior ecologists in the field and the office covering a range of projects but mainly focused on bat and great crested newt surveys. The role is suitable for someone with a keen interest in ecology, that is highly motivated and organised.

For the role, you will be involved in:

  • Shadowing and/or leading bat surveys
  • Assisting on Great Crested Newt Surveys
  • Organising assistant bat surveyors
  • Downloading and preparing kits
  • Send requests for consultation data
  • Type up notes and adding to jobs
  • General office admin and support
  • GIS mapping

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence with own car.
  • Qualified to degree level in Ecology (or relevant field)
  • Excellent level written, oral and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Available minimum 3 nights per week.
