Our client is a well-known British engineering and technology business with an enviable track record of launching new high-tech products which make a real difference to our everyday lives.
Due to exponential growth, both organically and by acquisition, the organisation is in the process of amalgamating some of their global businesses and has decided to recruit a new Group Engineering Director who will play a critical part in creating synergies across the geographical teams and product lines, encouraging them to work in a more collaborative and efficient way.
The new Engineering Director\'s role will be to encourage the engineering and technology teams across the locations (UK, Europe and the US) to work collaboratively to bring about pace and efficiencies and develop best practice. This, in turn, will help the Group develop new market leading technologies across the geographical locations and sectors, making the most of the best-in-class individuals the company has. They will be instrumental in developing a culture of collaboration and sharing of best practices to develop products and technologies that are innovative and commercially disruptive across these geographically spread teams.
The engineering team consists of 250+ people who cover electrical engineering, systems, electronic, software and optical engineering. A number are long serving employees who are individually best-in-class but have been used to operating in silos for a particular location or sector. With the amalgamation of the businesses, there is a real opportunity to create synergies across the teams, develop new technologies, as well as generate joint development programmes with the goal of delivering products quicker and in a more collaborative way.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a strong leader of people with an engaging, empowering and collaborative style. They will also be a strong influencer of people with experience of affecting change by enabling people to think differently. A demonstrable track record of bringing geographically spread engineering teams together, supporting and empowering them to work collaboratively to launch market leading products and systems is also important.
