About the role: Oryon Imaging has established an exceptional reputation within the diagnostic imaging sector throughout the years. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Senior MRI radiographer to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team on a part-time basis, supporting weekend service delivery. Reporting to the Clinical manager, you will provide customer-focused, high quality diagnostic radiography service.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake all imaging procedures in line with existing modality specific guidelines and protocols; in accordance with best practice (IRR 99, IRMER 2017), CQC standards, SOR and RCR guidelines.
  • Conduct MRI safety checks with patients prior to their examination, obtain consent and ensure suitability for the examination.
  • Ensure safe use and maintenance of specialist imaging equipment, adhering to local MRI safety policies and procedures and local rules, reporting any problems to the Clinical Manager and/or engineering support.
  • Dispense contrast media/drugs as an assigned practitioner under the direction of the consultant radiologists or clinicians and maintain accurate records in accordance with the medicine management policy and PGDs.
  • Provide expertise to ensure the appropriate triage, booking and examination of patients.
  • Accurate data entry on to Radiology Information (RIS) and Picture Archive (PACS) systems.
  • Ensure all patients are treated as individuals especially in regards to Care, Dignity and Respect.
  • Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and that patients’ views are sought and taken into account.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patients and follow the requirements of the Data Protection legislation.
  • Participate in providing responses to enquiries and requests from a range of stakeholders and referrers.
  • Liaise with consultant radiologists regarding protocols and patient referrals.
  • Run Quality Assurance checks on equipment, and action as appropriate.
  • Participate in clinical audits including health and safety, infection control, and radiation protection.
  • Maintain and use clinical stock and supplies in an efficient and cost-effective manner, ensuring stock is in date and a proper stock control is maintained.
  • Comply with infection prevention and control policies.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company Health and Safety Policy.
  • Identify and report any risk which has a potential adverse effect on Oryon Imaging’s ability to maintain quality of care and the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
  • Comply with CQC and Compliance requirements.
  • Report all incidents and complaints in line with Company Policy.
  • Participate and comply with the Oryon Imaging review and appraisal system.
  • To participate in the induction and training of new staff.
  • To attend compulsory internal and external staff training courses and/or complete online courses.
  • To maintain up to date and accurate personal CPD records.
  • Work effectively within the team, advising and mentoring more junior members of staff.

About you: The ideal candidate will be a qualified experienced MRI radiographer passionate about high quality patient care. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to empathise with patients, especially when they might be distressed or anxious. A high level of IT competency and literacy skills are also essential. You’ll pay attention to detail and take pride in your adaptability, competence and professionalism. You’ll be able to exhibit confidentiality, discretion and trustworthiness.

Essential qualifications:

  • Degree in Radiography or equivalent.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Proven experience in healthcare and patient-focused services.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in MRI covering a wide range of examinations and applications.
  • Good knowledge of MRI physics to ensure ability to manipulate sequence parameters and modify technique in difficult circumstances where required.
  • Ability to assess and implement specialist imaging procedures, adapting technique and prioritising imaging if required.
  • Proven awareness of Health and Safety regulations, Infection Control and Clinical Governance.
  • Commitment to CPD.
  • Cannulation Certificate desirable.
  • PGDip in MRI or masters in MRI/Radiography desirable.
