Ortus Recruitment are looking for a Learning Support Assistant in one of our partnered primary schools in the London Borough of Southwark who will support the head teacher and pupils in the classroom and help with learning and development. The chosen applicant will have a genuine passion for helping young children in an educational setting.
Job Responsibilities
- To work under the head teacher and aid them with any help or support they may need.
- Make sure students, especially those with special needs, are safe and have access to educational activities by supervising and supporting them.
- Build positive relationships with students and engage with them based on their needs.
- Encourage the children to participate in activities that are facilitated by the teacher and to engage with others in the class.
- If the head teacher instructs you to do so; you must give children feedback on their development and accomplishments.
- Create and maintain relationships with parents and the children.
- 1:1 work with students who may need special attention.
Requirements
- A commitment to helping children in their emotional, social and mental health.
- Experience working with SEN children (preferred).
- Able to make good connections with teachers, children and parents.
- Prior experience working with children.
- Sensitivity, patience and dedication when it comes to supporting the children.
