Location: Lewisham/willing to travel to nearby boroughs

Schedule: Full-time | Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

Salary: £93 - £110 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: Sept. 2026

Inspire Young Learners in a Supportive SEN Primary School. Ortus Recruitment is seeking a compassionate, proactive, and experienced Classroom Assistant to join a vibrant team in a welcoming SEN primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham. If you have experience working in a nursery, early years, or primary classroom, and you're passionate about supporting the learning and wellbeing of young children, this could be the perfect role for you!

Your Role Will Include:

  • Teaching & Learning Support
    • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging learning activities
    • Provide tailored support to small groups and individual pupils
    • Offer focused support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Classroom & Administrative Duties
    • Help prepare and maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment
    • Tidy and organise learning materials throughout the day
    • Support with admin tasks such as photocopying, filing, and displaying student work
  • Child & Family Support
    • Build positive relationships with students to encourage emotional and social development
    • Maintain strong communication with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing
    • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom atmosphere
  • General Support
    • Monitor children's safety and wellbeing, always ensuring a safe environment
    • Support with lunchtime/play supervision and activities

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous classroom-based experience in EYFS, nursery, or Key Stage 1
  • Experience supporting SEN children
  • A genuine commitment to the emotional, mental, and academic development of children
  • Patience, empathy, flexibility, and a nurturing nature
  • Willing to work flexibly
