Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in the London Borough of Wandsworth to recruit a motivated Graduate Teaching Assistant for a full-time role beginning in September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are passionate about education and want to develop practical classroom experience while supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.
About the Role As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers to support learning across Key Stage 2.
Your role will involve assisting with whole-class activities, delivering targeted interventions to individuals and small groups, and helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment where every child can succeed.
Key Responsibilities Support teachers in planning and delivering engaging classroom activities.
Provide one-to-one and small group academic support where needed.
Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and independence.
Monitor pupil progress and communicate observations with teaching staff.
Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate.
Were Looking For Someone Who Holds (or is expected to achieve) a 2:1 degree or above in any subject.
Has excellent literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
Is enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn.
Can motivate and inspire young learners.
Demonstrates professionalism and works well within a collaborative team.
Has a genuine interest in education and child development.
Previous experience working with children, whether in schools, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, youth work, or voluntary settings, is beneficial but not essential.
