Ortus Group has been retained by a leading commercial London law firm looking to recruit a Property Litigation Senior Associate to join its close-knit team.
This opportunity combines high-quality work, an impressive client base and a friendly, supportive working environment. It would suit an experienced property litigator who enjoys technically challenging matters and wants to play a meaningful role within a collaborative team.
The opportunity
The team advises on a broad range of property disputes, with a predominantly commercial focus. Its client base includes many household names and the UK’s largest landlord, providing exposure to substantial property interests and commercially significant issues.
The role offers the opportunity to develop relationships with clients, understand their wider property objectives and help them resolve disputes with those objectives in mind. Strong technical advice matters, alongside the ability to recommend a practical and commercially sensible way forward.
The work
You should bring broad experience across traditional property litigation, particularly commercial landlord and tenant matters. Relevant experience would include:
- Lease renewals and disputes under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
- Lease interpretation, covenant disputes and breaches of lease.
- Break notices and lease termination issues.
- Rent and service charge disputes.
- Forfeiture, possession proceedings and arrears recovery.
- Wider property disputes involving ownership, rights of way, easements and restrictive covenants.
- Negotiation, settlement and alternative dispute resolution.
A predominantly commercial background will be particularly relevant, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and give clear advice on complex issues.
Your contribution
At Senior Associate level, the firm is looking for someone comfortable taking ownership of matters and acting as a trusted point of contact for clients.
You should be able to assess the strengths and weaknesses of a dispute, explain the available options clearly and guide clients through the process with confidence. You will also enjoy working closely with colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to the wider team.

You will be an experienced Property Litigation solicitor ready to bring:
- Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of property disputes.
- Substantial experience of commercial property litigation.
- Confidence managing your own caseload and client relationships.
- Sound commercial judgement and a practical approach to resolving disputes.
- Clear communication skills and a strong commitment to client service.
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to support colleagues.
