  • General Job Summary

Responsible for operating general diagnostic x-ray equipment. Responsible for assisting providers with patient care by performing a variety of clinical and clerical duties.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists in the delivery of healthcare and patient care management.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and co-workers.
  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
  • Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.
  • Read patients’ charts and relay physician orders to other staff members.
  • Ensures clerical responsibilities and patient information is completed in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Maintain patient information in an electronic health records system.
  • Maintain all imaging files completely and accurately.
  • Complies with safety standards, OSHA, and HIPAA.
  • Maintain clinical quality assurance standards.
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
  • Maintains radiographic supplies, images, and orders as necessary.
  • Operates only the general diagnostic equipment not located at a site with C-arm or MRI as permitted within the scope of the LMXO license.
  • Adheres to the medical assistant scope of practice per federal/state laws.
  • Performs all imaging exams according to provider protocols.
  • Able to work with the PAC system.
  • Ensures certifications and licensures are current and up to date.
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.

Requirements

Education/Experience

Licensed as a Limited X-ray Machine Operator (LMXO) in Kentucky with a dual license in Ohio and Indiana.

Minimum of one year of experience in the medical field and/or LMXO preferred.

CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.

Other Requirements

Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends. Travel as needed.

  • Ability to notice detail in radiological images with differences in shapes and sizes.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to evaluate images and make technical changes as needed.

Work Environment

Radiological unit, medical office and exam/procedure room settings.

Mental/Physical Requirements

Standing, sitting, and walking the majority of the time.

Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc.

There are occasions when kneeling, stooping, bending or reaching may be necessary.

Ability lift 50 pounds.
