The role: You will play a key role in shaping and delivering the operational and regulatory processes needed to protect and improve our land. Working closely with the Operations teams, you’ll provide technical advice and support across a range of projects. Your main responsibilities will include preparing and managing environmental permit applications and variations for both new and existing treatment activities (including liaising with external permitting consultants). You’ll also support ongoing compliance by managing reporting requirements and ensuring all permits are up to date.

What you will be doing?

  • Prepare and manage environmental permit applications and supporting documentation for new and existing soil and waste treatment activities.
  • Ensure environmental and regulatory standards are met and maintained across all permitting work.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues, helping to resolve issues in line with best practice and regulatory expectations.
  • Produce clear documentation and reports to support operational decision-making and business planning.
  • Track progress of permitting work, identify any gaps or delays, and take action where needed to keep things on track.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records, using internal systems to ensure data is accessible and supports ongoing team activities.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in the Waste or Contaminated Land Industry required.
  • Strong knowledge of UK environmental permitting regulations is essential.
  • Ideally a member of a relevant professional body, such as CIWM or IES.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise confidently with regulators, internal teams, and stakeholders.
  • Proactive, well-organised, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities independently.
  • A flexible team player, who enjoys working collaboratively across different functions.
  • You must be willing to travel throughout the UK as required and hold a full UK driving licence.
