Join us in this role where you’ll become a Wind Turbine Technician in our UK Generation business, where you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our wind turbines, positively contributing to our safety culture, and working with our engineering specialists to enhance our wind farm performance. You’ll be working from one of our state‑of‑the‑art facilities in the Port of Grimsby, Liverpool or Barrow, with over 450 employees based across these sites who all contribute to ensure our windfarms are operating at their optimum.
You’ll be part of either our UK East or UK West teams, where you, together with your colleagues, will utilise software systems to accurately record all elements of your daily work including hours worked, spare parts used and technical work order reports. You'll prepare and pack spare parts, tools and other equipment for all elements of maintenance work. You'll perform general cleaning across site, e.g. turbines, onshore facilities, storage, vessels, etc. You must be proactive in maintaining your competence level and the safety certification required for the job. You are also responsible for the condition of your own personally issued safety equipment: Life vest, helmet, fall arrest harness etc.
As a team, we are looking for people who are comfortable working from either:
- One of our Service Operations Vessel where you will work offshore on two‑week shifts with some unsociable hours.
- Working seven‑day shifts traveling daily between our site office and one of our near‑shore windfarms.
Responsibilities
- Driving a positive safety culture through your actions
- Performing troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical components
- Servicing and maintaining offshore wind turbines
- Servicing and maintaining balance of plant equipment
- Some technicians will perform the duties of an Authorised Person on HV equipment.
Qualifications
- Have a full apprenticeship in a relevant discipline, such as electrical or mechanical engineering. Preferably, with further qualifications, such as BTEC or HNC.
- Meet the physical, medical and psychological requirements for working offshore 11‑12 hour shifts with requirements for unsociable hours.
- Have an aptitude for working at heights and in restricted or confined spaces.
- Are a team player with a calm and resilient approach to problem‑solving.
- Have well‑experienced troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical components and adept in using your own initiative to complete tasks.
- Are self‑motivated and enjoy working both independently and as a member of a team.
