St James’ Catholic Primary School, St James’ Road, Orrell, Wigan, WN5 7AA.
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm, term time plus two weeks, schedule begins September 2026.
We are seeking a School Administration Officer to join our dedicated team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the smooth and efficient running of the school office and will be the first point of contact for parents, carers, and visitors.
The role requires a welcoming, personable, and professional approach, excellent IT skills, the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, and a commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school.
Responsibilities
- Provide an efficient and effective service as part of the school office team.
- Build professional relationships with parents/carers through effective communication, answering telephone calls and emails, and resolving queries.
- Adhere to the school’s practices and policies.
- Arrange reactive work on site as instructed by the caretaker and/or school staff.
- Assist with financial duties, including collection and banking of monies where required.
- Undertake general reception, administration duties, and financial tasks related to school meals.
- Communicate with parents via the school text/email messaging service.
- Ensure the safety of pupils by understanding and following safeguarding measures and procedures.
- Assist with pupil first aid as necessary and liaise with parents/carers and staff.
- Support the Catholic ethos of the school.
