We are now seeking a passionate and creative Musical Theatre Tutor to join our Arts and Performance team.
Location: The Orpheus Centre, Godstone, Surrey
Salary: £24,891.75 – £30,287.47 per annum (dependent on qualifications)
Hours: 35 hours per week, 44 weeks per year
Contract: Permanent
The Role
As Musical Theatre Tutor, you will deliver engaging, inclusive musical theatre sessions that enable learners to develop creative, vocational and life skills. You will act as Personal Tutor to the Musical Theatre major group, supporting learners’ individual needs and aspirations, while contributing to a high‑quality and innovative curriculum. You will teach approximately 18 hours per week, alongside planning, assessment, rehearsals, performances and pastoral support. Some evening and off‑site work will be required in line with curriculum needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Personal Tutor to Musical Theatre learners
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews
- Implement personalised support strategies in collaboration with SENCo and wellbeing teams
- Deliver weekly Musical Theatre sessions leading to accredited qualifications
- Plan, assess and track learner progress to required quality standards
- Maintain accurate and timely learning documentation
- Work collaboratively across education and care teams
Performance & Arts Development
- Develop innovative and inclusive musical theatre projects
- Support devised and rehearsal‑based work leading to performances
- Collaborate with external partners to promote the arts and disability awareness
- Develop learners’ professional skills through auditions, rehearsals and performance
Wider Responsibilities
- Participate in induction, training and continuous professional development
- Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, equality and diversity standards at all times
About You
- Degree in a related performing arts subject (or equivalent)
- Teaching qualification
- At least 2 years’ experience working with young disabled people in arts and/or education
- Strong experience in performance devising and production
- Ability to inspire learners and lead performances to a high standard
- Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills
- Flexible, collaborative and enthusiastic approach
- Car owner/driver
- PGCE
- Experience working with external partners
- Understanding of Ofsted and quality assurance processes
- Mentoring or coaching experience
