Location: The Orpheus Centre, Godstone, Surrey

Salary: £24,891.75 – £30,287.47 per annum (dependent on qualifications)

Hours: 35 hours per week, 44 weeks per year

Contract: Permanent

The Role

You will design and deliver engaging film and media sessions, support learners to achieve recognised qualifications, and act as a personal tutor for Film and Media majors. Working closely with curriculum, wellbeing and care teams, you will help shape a rich, innovative curriculum that supports learners’ aspirations and professional development. You will teach approximately 18 hours per week, alongside planning, assessment, rehearsals, performances and pastoral support. Some evening and off‑site work will be required in line with curriculum needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality film and media teaching leading to accredited qualifications.
  • Act as a personal tutor, supporting learners’ progress, wellbeing and aspirations.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews and implement individual support strategies.
  • Develop engaging schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments and learner evidence portfolios.
  • Support performances, original learner‑devised work and collaborative productions.
  • Work with colleagues and external partners to develop new creative initiatives.
  • Promote professional behaviours, transferable skills and employability within the arts.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, monitoring and continuous improvement processes.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity standards at all times.

About You

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Film, Media or a related arts discipline.
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with young disabled people, including learners with SEN, in an arts or education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of film and media production and performance devising.
  • Experience gathering and assessing portfolio evidence for qualifications.
  • Excellent organisational, IT and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire learners and manage multiple priorities with flexibility and humour.
  • PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with awarding bodies, Ofsted frameworks or quality inspection processes.
  • Experience collaborating with external partners.
