The Role
You will design and deliver engaging film and media sessions, support learners to achieve recognised qualifications, and act as a personal tutor for Film and Media majors.
Working closely with curriculum, wellbeing and care teams, you will help shape a rich, innovative curriculum that supports learners’ aspirations and professional development.
You will teach approximately 18 hours per week , alongside planning, assessment, rehearsals, performances and pastoral support.
Some evening and off‑site work will be required in line with curriculum needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality film and media teaching leading to accredited qualifications.
- Act as a personal tutor, supporting learners’ progress, wellbeing and aspirations.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews and implement individual support strategies.
- Develop engaging schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments and learner evidence portfolios.
- Support performances, original learner‑devised work and collaborative productions.
- Work with colleagues and external partners to develop new creative initiatives.
- Promote professional behaviours, transferable skills and employability within the arts.
- Contribute to quality assurance, monitoring and continuous improvement processes.
- Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity standards at all times.
About You
- Degree (or equivalent) in Film, Media or a related arts discipline.
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with young disabled people, including learners with SEN, in an arts or education setting.
- Strong knowledge of film and media production and performance devising.
- Experience gathering and assessing portfolio evidence for qualifications.
- Excellent organisational, IT and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire learners and manage multiple priorities with flexibility and humour.
- PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience working with awarding bodies, Ofsted frameworks or quality inspection processes.
- Experience collaborating with external partners.
