Join Ormiston Families’ Trusts and Foundations fundraising team in a primarily research-based and administrative role. The volunteer will support the charity's fundraising by identifying prospective Trusts whose charitable objectives align with our own and strengthening proposals with up-to-date statistics/findings.

Time Commitment

Volunteers can usually spend as long or as short a time as they wish working with us, as long as it is by arrangement with their manager. For this role we would hope you would spend one working day a week with the Trusts team.

Main Tasks

  • Undertaking research to identify potential funding streams, proactively seeking Trusts and Foundations whose criteria match Ormiston Families’ aims and activities.
  • Researching up-to-date articles, studies, findings and statistics that evidence the need for our services.
  • Managing and updating databases to record donor contact and preference information.
  • Making first contact with charitable Trusts and Foundations to develop future funding relationships and identify which of our services would be best suited to their interests (optional).

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications

  • Good organisational skills.
  • Research skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications.
  • The ability to work as part of a team but capacity to work independently and manage own workload.
  • Reliable and able to commit to sparing a few hours each week.
  • Able to take part in any essential training and abide by all safeguarding and confidentiality policies and procedures.

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding/experience of third sector & fundraising.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop strong positive relationships with prospective funders.
  • An understanding and empathy for the children, young people and family’s sector.

Transport

Expenses incurred for travel to the office in Ipswich will be reimbursed. Business insurance would be required to claim mileage expenses.

References

Two references and for most roles a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Disclosure. Ormiston will do the administration of the DBS disclosure if one is required, which is free for volunteers.
