We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Head of PE from September 2026. The successful candidate will lead a hard-working team in the next stage of its development. This role is suited to someone with an excellent track record for delivering outstanding lessons and strong results. The successful candidate will be resilient, driven, focused and keen to play a key role in the future development of OBA.

We offer outstanding sports facilities, including a double-sided Sports Hall and outdoor facilities that include seven tennis courts. The successful candidate will play an important part in the continued development of a busy and successful department. Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED - December 2019), conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links. The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018. This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion. The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Is dynamic, well-qualified and highly motivated.
  • Is an outstanding classroom teacher who can inspire and excite students about their learning in all aspects of PE.
  • Is able to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning within the subject, raising standards and ensuring student achievement is maximised.
  • Possesses recent, relevant teaching and management experience.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere within the department for both students and staff.
  • Has experience and a good understanding of the use of systems and data tracking.
  • Is able to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and governors.
  • Has an ambition to work towards a whole school leadership role in the future.
