We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support the educational and emotional development of students at Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy. The role involves planning, delivering learning activities, monitoring progress, and supporting teachers under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Support the educational and emotional development of students, focusing on pupil regulation and wellbeing.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals or groups, including short-term whole-class support.
  • Monitor learners and assess progress, recording and reporting on attendance, achievement, behaviour, and development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff within the agreed supervision framework.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs or equivalent (Grade C or above) in English and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning / HLTA professional standards or working towards.
  • Experience working with children, ideally those with autism or additional needs.
  • Knowledge of sensory processing, autism strategies and strategies that promote engagement and regulation.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, adaptable approach.
  • Proficient in using ICT to support learning and record progress.
  • A desire to learn, grow, and be part of a high‑performing team.
