About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Design & Technology Technician to support the delivery of a high-quality, practical curriculum. This role involves preparing, maintaining and managing a range of workshop machinery and equipment across specialist areas such as wood, metal and plastics. You will play a key part in ensuring that resources are ready for lessons, supporting teaching staff and students during practical activities and maintaining a safe, organised, and fully compliant workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain and manage workshop machinery and equipment across wood, metal, plastics and other specialist areas.
- Ensure resources are ready for lessons and support teaching staff and students during practical activities.
- Maintain a safe, organised, fully compliant workshop environment.
- Perform routine maintenance of machinery and manage stock control.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of department facilities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong practical skills and experience with workshop machinery, preferably gained in an industry setting.
- Solid understanding of health and safety requirements in a workshop environment.
- Confidence supporting others in the safe use of equipment.
- Organisation and attention to detail, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Approachable, adaptable and enthusiastic about supporting young people to develop design and technology skills.
- Previous experience in an educational setting desirable but not essential.
