Ormiston Queensmill Academy is currently seeking an exceptional Class Teacher to join our highly skilled and dedicated team. Whether you’re an experienced SEN practitioner or an outstanding mainstream teacher eager to specialise, we want to hear from you.

As a Class Teacher, you will lead a small, supportive class team to deliver a bespoke, engaging, and highly differentiated curriculum tailored to the individual needs and interests of each pupil. You will be central to their learning journey β€” helping them build skills, confidence, and independence. The role is fixed until 31st August 2026 with potential to become permanent.

The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (or working towards)
  • Experience working with autistic pupils
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and how to adapt for SEND learners
  • A genuine passion for working with neurodiverse children and young people
  • Understanding of autism-specific strategies and emotional regulation practices
  • High expectations for pupil progress and achievements
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and ICT skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion

Desirable:

  • Experience in a special school or specialist provision
  • Familiarity with SCERTS, TEACCH, Zones of Regulation, or other autism specific approaches
  • Ability to manage complex dysregulation with empathy and resilience
  • Experience supporting and mentoring other staff
