Salary: £45,000-65,000 plus monthly bonus and other benefits

Key Responsibilities:
- We are recruiting for a test and commissioning engineer who would like to help us build and develop an in-house testing department. The department is responsible for conducting industry standard testing across a wide range of products from bespoke digital substation solutions to repeat DNO protection schemes.
- You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and meeting the testing requirements of multiple major projects with contract values ranging from £100k to £1million plus.
- Complete in-house testing as scheduled.
- Develop in-house testing standards, procedure and test documentation.
- Produce and deliver in-house training material with regards to testing of HV switchgear and protection and control schemes.
- Provide on the job training and guidance to junior engineers and trainees.
- Provide support to other departments such as engineering, production and service when required, e.g. technical expertise in commissioning P&C schemes.
- Lead and organise customer acceptance tests, in conjunction with the projects lead engineer.
- Be responsible for ensuring high quality products are vigorously tested.
- Work alongside the engineering department to develop project specific requirements and test schedules.
- Work with our key customers and DNO frameworks to ensure all testing requirements are met.
- Checking of test documentations and final approval of the quality documentation prior to issue to the customer.
Required Skills:
- Background in electrical switchgear (essential)
- Experience in the fundamentals of electrical switchgear, its operation, maintenance, and fault finding (33KV MV Switchgear) (essential)
- Understanding and interpretation of protection and control schematics for HV equipment (essential)
- Demonstrable experience in commissioning HV switchgear, protection and control schemes (essential)
- Knowledge of modern standards such as IEC 61850 and be up to date on technical advances such as centralized protection and control (essential)
- 10+ years of experience within the electrical industry ideally focusing on commissioning of HV Switchgear, Protection and Control Schemes (desirable)
- Formal engineering qualification BEng within electrical engineer discipline. NVQ level 3 or above considered depending on experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively on your own or as part of a team
- Proactive and ability to make decisions quickly
- Results-orientated and ability to work at pace.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft suite programs
- Management experience with demonstrable skills of leading and building a team.
- Have knowledge of industry best practices and be able to develop processes and procedures to ensure testing is undertaken correctly and safely.
