Our client is a market-leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a substantial and growing pipeline of renewable energy projects across the UK and Europe. The investment team sits at the heart of the business, running all corporate financing matters - including debt financing, M&A and corporate development - and taking projects from early-stage development through investment approval and into construction.
The team is currently nine strong: a Senior Director, a Director, two Investment Principals (VP-level), two Associates and three Analysts. The business is in growth mode and regularly expands the team, with a genuine track record of promoting from within - recent analyst hires have progressed to Associate within their first 12-18 months.
The Role
The Investment Analyst will get broad exposure across debt, equity and M&A, working both buy-side and sell-side, on live transactions from day one. This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role for someone who wants to be closely involved in deal execution rather than sitting on the periphery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting project FID processes across a pipeline of projects in the UK and Europe
- Supporting initial investment review and screening of prospective investment opportunities
- Working on debt funding for the pipeline of projects (liaising with lenders, reviewing bank models, coordinating due diligence and transaction execution)
- Building, maintaining and analysing detailed financial and valuation models
- Preparation of regular memos, slide decks and transaction materials for board approval
- Monitoring and reporting on the portfolio/pipeline
- Forming strong internal relationships across the business, including development, project delivery, asset management and finance teams, with some exposure to senior management
- Proactively analysing the financial impact of individual project risk, regulatory changes, and the economic environment on the group's portfolio — working closely with Project Directors and Policy teams to drive enhanced equity returns
- Supporting potential M&A activity
Requirements
- At least 1-3 years' experience gained in investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or a comparable environment (including developers/IPPs)
- Experience working in a dynamic, transaction-based environment
- Commercial exposure to the Renewable/Infrastructure sector would be useful
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with strong financial modelling, Excel and PowerPoint capabilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Outstanding academic record with a degree in a relevant discipline — a first class degree from a leading university is preferred
- Technically sharp with a strong work ethic, able to hit the ground running; enthusiastic and fast learner
- Cultural fit is the single most important criterion for this hire
