KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To manage all financial reporting and internal accounts, reporting directly to the Managing Partner.
Job Summary (duties include but are not limited to):
- Exceptional management of accounts, cashflow forecasting, and the provision of clear, timely, and accurate financial analysis and reporting, including responses to ad-hoc queries.
- Supporting the Managing Partner in devising and implementing financial strategy in line with business needs and relevant regulations.
- Full ownership of the annual budgeting process, advising the Partnership to maintain a financially robust business and support sustainable future growth.
- Attending Quarterly Partner Meetings, presenting management accounts and profitability forecasts, recommending process improvements, and leading or supporting efficiency projects.
- Management and processing of Equity Partners’ profit share calculations and associated tax payments.
- Ongoing development and management of effective internal control processes to minimise regulatory, operational, and firm-wide risk.
- Preparation of year-end accounts for all Group entities.
- Overseeing and supporting the audit process in conjunction with the firm’s external auditors.
- Responsibility for payroll, pensions, and staff benefits, working closely with the Head of HR.
- Acting as the main HMRC point of contact, with ownership of PAYE, P60, P11D, and related obligations.
- Responsibility for all tax compliance matters, including VAT and Corporation Tax.
- Responsibility for the completion and submission of all FCA financial regulatory data.
- Monitoring and authorisation of staff and partner expenses.
- Supervision of the finance assistant, including oversight of expense payments and invoice processing.
- Lead administrator for all accounting systems (e.g. Sage and Xero), including user management, upgrades, issue resolution, and training of other system administrators as required.
- Ongoing development and optimisation of accounting systems to enhance efficiency and ensure full utilisation of system capabilities.
- Responsibility for lease arrangements relating to the firm’s properties and any contracts with landlords or tenants.
- Management of the firm’s service contracts, including utilities, waste management, photocopiers, franking machines, and outsourced IT services.
Additional Responsibilities
- Supporting the Front of House/Facilities Assistant in managing the financial aspects of facilities and health and safety activities.
- Presenting regular finance updates to staff and partners at Quarterly Firm Meetings.
- Contributing to a positive and supportive firm culture, maintaining strong internal relationships, and proactively developing and managing external B2B relationships.
- Undertaking ad-hoc duties as required, including strategic planning relating to potential office moves, mergers, or acquisitions.
Experience
Previous experience as an accountant in the financial services sector is essential.
