We are looking for a Trading Assistant to join a leading financial markets business in London, working directly alongside brokers on the trading floor and supporting activity across global markets.
This is an opportunity for someone with a background in middle office, trade support or financial markets operations who wants to get closer to the desk, the products and the people driving the market. You won't be sitting remotely from the action. You'll work in a fast-paced trading environment, partnering directly with brokers and execution teams and gaining hands-on exposure across Interest Rate Swaps, FX, Bonds, Futures & Options and other derivative products.
If you're commercially minded, thrive under pressure and want to develop your markets knowledge while working alongside experienced brokers, this could be an excellent next step.
As a Trading Assistant, you'll become an integral part of the trading floor, helping ensure trades move accurately and efficiently from execution through to settlement. You'll work closely with brokers throughout the trading day, supporting live trading activity, resolving issues and coordinating with institutional clients, banks, prime brokers and operations teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working directly with brokers on the trading floor, providing real-time support throughout the trading day
- Supporting trade capture, allocation and reconciliation across IRS, FX, Bonds and Futures & Options
- Monitoring trades from execution through to settlement and quickly identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Acting as a key link between the broking desk, clients, banks and prime brokers
- Supporting institutional clients with allocations, confirmations and settlement queries
- Managing trade lifecycle events, including derivative expiries, rolls and close-outs
- Monitoring cash, positions, margin and funding requirements
- Helping the desks improve workflows and reduce operational breaks
- Developing a detailed understanding of the products, markets and clients the brokers work with every day
Ideally, you'll have:
- 2–5 years' experience in middle office, trade support, brokerage operations or a similar financial markets role
- Good product knowledge across IRS, FX, Bonds and/or Listed Derivatives
- Experience supporting brokers, trading desks, institutional clients or banks
- Strong numerical skills and exceptional attention to detail
- The confidence to communicate effectively with brokers, clients and counterparties
- The ability to think quickly, prioritise and remain accurate in a fast-moving environment
- Strong Excel skills and ideally experience with platforms such as Bloomberg, MarkitWire or Murex
- Experience within an interdealer broker, brokerage or derivatives trading environment would be particularly valuable.
You'll be joining an established financial markets business with exposure to fixed income, FX and derivative products and a strong institutional client base. Most importantly, this position gives you the opportunity to work close to the markets, close to the brokers and directly involved in the day-to-day activity of a global financial markets business.
If you've developed your skills in middle office or trade support and are looking for a role with greater exposure to brokers, clients and live markets, we'd like to hear from you.
