£58,518 – £63,756 / £32.07 – £34.94 per hour (after the first 3 years, including Distant Islands Allowance)
We are seeking to appoint an individual to the post of Service Manager (Social Care) within Orkney Health and Care.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with considerable experience of working within the Public Sector. You will also have skills and demonstrate ability in leadership and management and will be willing to take on the challenge of managing all aspects of social care service provision.
You will provide leadership and ongoing management support across the full range of social care services and will be responsible to the Head of Health and Community Care. This is a significant role within the Orkney Health and Care management team structures.
You will be an inspiring people manager and create an environment where staff are highly engaged and energised and encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
In addition, the Service Manager will have the ability to support and develop staff to ensure services are delivered to the highest standard and will be a key contributor to the broader development of Health and Care services within the Health and Social Care Partnership. We are seeking someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills who has the ability to manage change and can demonstrate evidence of managing multidisciplinary teams. You will demonstrate a record of success in the delivery of organisational change and partnership working.
Applicants should hold a qualification at SCQF level 8/9 (i.e., SVQ4, HND, General Degree or equivalent), or, where this essential qualification is not held, have a minimum of 5 years previous relevant experience. Applications from fully qualified Registered Nurses, AHP\’s or Social Workers holding registration with NMC, HCPC or SSSC, accordingly, and with over 5 years previous relevant experience are also welcome.

The postholder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average revalued earnings (CARE) defined benefit scheme.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
