£15.35 / £16.00 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

We are seeking suitable candidates to join our supply list in the Early Learning and Childcare setting. The ideal candidates will have recent experience of working with young children in a structured context. This post is rewarding and requires energetic, thoughtful people who are able to work as part of our team in a caring, learning environment.

For appointment at Grade D:

  • You should have a good general standard of education including literacy and numeracy AND successfully complete a relevant qualification to allow registration with the SSSC as a Support Worker (Day Care of Children) within 3 years of taking up the post.

For appointment at Grade E:

  • You should hold a recognised qualification that enables registration with the SSSC as a Support Worker (Day Care of Children) e.g. NC in Early Education and Child Care, SVQ Level 2. You are required to register with the SSSC within 6 months of taking up the post and maintain this registration.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
