The predicted salary is between 17 - 18 £ per hour.

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis £17.09 / £17.85 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance). A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate.

The purpose of this role is to carry out tasks and duties, delegated by senior staff, in an effective and efficient manner ensuring, at all times, the social and domestic care needs of service users. You will observe the principles of confidentiality in all aspects of practice and ensure the safety and comfort of service users, attending to their general care and wellbeing; including assisting with personal care in keeping with the standards of care required by the Care Inspectorate.

The necessary qualification, experience and skills required to be appointed at Grade E are:

  • To hold an SVQ2 or equivalent qualification in Social Care and to achieve SVQ3 in Social Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC within 3 years of appointment.

To be appointed at Grade F:

  • You must hold an SVQ3 in Social Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Care Home Service for Adults.

Previous experience in social care within a Care Home or Extra Care Housing is also essential.

This post involves a contractual requirement to work unsocial hours on a rota. You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service. This post is a regulated role with adults and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
