Orkney Islands Council is looking for an experienced Environmental Services Manager with the drive, vision and commitment to take forward their future waste and recycling strategy and ensure that services reflect the needs of the local communities, the current and future regulatory and legislative environments and provide best value to the Council.
A key part of this role will be to drive the implementation of the Waste Strategy which looks to see a step-change in Orkney’s ability to collect and process recyclable materials and act as an enabler for the development of circular economy opportunities in the County.
In addition, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of policies and strategies, management of the collection and treatment of materials and accountable for the operational delivery of the service which provides kerbside collections to households across Orkney Mainland and the Isles.
