The predicted salary is between 25.97 - 25.97 £ per hour.
You will be reporting to the Team Manager (Roads Support).
Your working pattern is Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.
The purpose of this role is to deliver a full range of services in support of the Council as Roads Authority with particular reference to the approved service plans and by applying the principles of the Council’s Roads Asset Management Plan (RAMP), the Roads Management and Maintenance Plan (RMMP) and other Operational plans as approved by the Council.
This role will involve the review and development of Council service plans and policies relating to Roads Asset Management, Roads Management and Maintenance, Winter Service and Verge Maintenance, including carrying out the relevant consultation process and ensuring the service meets its national legislation and best practice requirements.
You will be responsible for supervising and monitoring the activities of the Roads Design and Roads Safety teams as well as overseeing inspection and assessment of the condition of the roads asset and associated infrastructure to help identify current and future asset replacement priorities. Experience of supervising and monitoring staff on civil engineering or roads related projects is essential.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney (including the outer islands) to meet the operational requirements of the service.
