The predicted salary is between 15 - 16 £ per hour.

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis at £15.94 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance). The purpose of this role is to help provide the school meals service on a relief basis to cover for holiday and sickness absence.

Duties include:

  • Preparation, cooking and service of food
  • Supervision of staff
  • Menu planning
  • Ordering of provisions
  • Ensuring all aspects of service provision comply with food safety
  • Completion of associated records
  • Cash handling
  • Liaising with school staff, parents and pupils

The necessary qualifications, experience and skills required for this role are:

  • An Elementary Food Hygiene qualification or equivalent
  • A Food Preparation Qualification e.g. NVQ level 2, CG 706/1 706/2
  • Previous experience of food preparation, cooking and service

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service. This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
