35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

£41,557 - £45,900 / £22.77 - £25.15 per hour (Including Distant Islands Allowance)

Orkney Islands Council is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Internal Auditor.

You will be required to perform a range of assignments to help the Chief Internal Auditor deliver an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity that adds value to, and improves the effectiveness of the Council’s operations.

You will support the performance of the Internal Audit Team through a culture of teamwork and flexibility, contributing to the overall success of the team and the Council.

Crucial to the role will be your excellent written and oral communication skills and your ability to present complex issues in a way that is easily understandable. Being self-motivated and able to work under pressure and to agreed timescales will be of significant benefit in this role.

You should have good IT skills and relevant practical experience of internal audit in a local authority or other public body.

Applicants must be a CCAB Qualified Accountant or Chartered Internal Auditor and must have current registration with a CCAB body or CIIA.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
