Orkney Health and Care is seeking Care at Home Assistants for various locations. The positions offer various contracts from 16.75 hours to 30 hours per week, on a permanent basis, with a salary of Β£34,850 - Β£35,571 pro rata / Β£18.06 - Β£18.44 per hour (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance).

You will provide person-centred care to individuals to enable them to live as independently as possible, in line with the principles of the Health and Social Care Standards and the Scottish Social Services Codes of practice, as well as local and national policies regarding the protection of vulnerable adults.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Treating people with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Ensuring individuals are included in and supported to make decisions for themselves.
  • Demonstrating good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Showing a basic understanding of health and safety, including risk assessment.

You will hold or achieve within 3 years an SVQ 2 (SCQF Level 6) in Health and Social Care or another equivalent level qualification accepted by SSSC for registration.

This post is subject to a Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in a regulated role with protected adults.
