Orka Financial is currently recruiting an Interim Finance Manager for an established technology services business based in the Newbury area.

This is a broad, hands‑on position combining management accounting and financial reporting with ownership of the payroll process.

The role would suit an experienced Finance Manager, Management Accountant or Financial Controller who can quickly take ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function and deliver accurate, timely information to the wider business.

Key responsibilities

  • Producing monthly management accounts and supporting commentary
  • Managing the month‑end close, including journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Completing balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
  • Preparing financial reports and providing insight into business performance
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management
  • Taking ownership of the payroll input and queries
  • Managing payroll information, deductions, pensions and relevant submissions
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and responding to finance and payroll queries
  • Supporting process improvements and other ad‑hoc finance projects

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar hands‑on finance role
  • Strong management accounting and month‑end reporting experience
  • Practical experience of managing or processing payroll
  • Good Excel skills and confidence working with finance and payroll systems
  • The ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • A proactive, organised and commercially aware approach

Part‑qualified accountants and candidates qualified by experience are encouraged to apply.

A full accounting qualification is not essential where supported by relevant practical experience.

This is an interim opportunity paying £200-£250 per day, depending on experience.

The position offers hybrid working, with two days per week required at the company's Newbury‑area office.
