Our client is a growing lender seeking to hire a Senior Manager, Finance Risk and Control. This is a new role and the first line of Risk & Control within the Finance function. The role will ensure Finance compliance with regulations and promote a culture of risk-based decision-making and robust controls. The successful candidate will lead and develop the Finance Risk & Control team, working closely with the Finance leadership, Risk, Audit Committee, Internal & External Auditors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, evaluating, and documenting risks associated with Finance operations and processes across Finance in a formal risk register.
  • Developing, implementing, and managing Finance Risk Management governance and reporting capabilities.
  • Maintaining the Finance Model Inventory and ensuring compliance with the Model Risk Policy.
  • Representing Finance at Risk & Controls Committee meetings where appropriate.
  • Leading risk assessments (RCSA) to identify and monitor risk mitigation actions addressing root causes.
  • Recommending and delivering actions to enable migration to controls-based audit approaches.
  • Documenting, challenging, and developing an end-to-end view of the finance operating environment, identifying key risks, controls, and processes impacting Finance.
  • Assessing risks, documenting processes and controls, and conducting assurance activities, including testing control effectiveness and monitoring.
  • Conducting control identification activities through walkthroughs and process mapping.
  • Identifying control gaps and weaknesses, ensuring timely and proper mitigation.
  • Managing and reporting risks, controls, issues, incidents, and remediation actions.
  • Performing control testing to identify gaps and implement remediation plans.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional and Finance teams to improve control design, develop new processes and controls, and embed good risk practices.
  • Supporting internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations of controls and processes.
  • Managing and reporting on the risk and control environment, including risks, controls, issues, incidents, and remedial actions.
  • Overseeing resolution of Finance Risk & Control findings to ensure timely completion.
  • Monitoring progress of audit actions to ensure they are implemented effectively.
  • Partnering with the Risk function to develop and deliver risk management training and communication initiatives for Finance.
