Project Engineer Orion are currently working with an innovative business based in Birmingham. They are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their friendly team and work hands-on in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical bias and have atleast 5 years experience working with WIMES. Project Engineer Responsibilities: Manage work-load to achieve the design deliverables required of the project/tender Liaising with internal design engineers to ensure compliance and to integrate the mechanical elements into the overall plant design. Client liaison Structural calculations Principle calculation Generating requirements for equipment or service to be purchased and define the key requirements by means of equipment specification Working with CAD designer and other design engineers to create and evolve P+ID, General Arrangement and detailed drawings to define the plant design In particular develop piping and equipment layouts. Prepare and maintain schedules that define the plant design. (Valve, equipment, line schedule) Contributing to the HAZOP process. Communicating with site managers and commissioning managers during relevant stages of the project Evaluating quotations and developing to a point of technical compliance. Reviewing supply-chain design documentation and integrating into the wider plant design. Undertake Design Risk Assessment and capture the outcome. Good manufacturing & plant engineering background. Mechanical integration across all projects Project Engineer Required Experience: Great communication and interpersonal skills. To be self-motivated in order to drive mechanical design processes to meet required project deliverables. Knowledge and experience of equipment and technologies used commonly within the water treatment industry. (Experience in product development (NPI) methodologies will be also considered as an advantage). Strong supervisory and liaison skills between key technical stakeholders and customers. Able to visit customers onsite to assist with performance issues and commissioning. Strong knowledge of steel fabrication techniques, standards and procedures. Capable to specify and coordinate work allocated to local teams (within our work office) and remotely between our globally extended teams. Capable of performing mechanical calculations such as hydraulic calcs and FEA. Excellent level of experience and competence in interpretation and understanding of PFDs and P&IDs. Proficient in Autodesk mechanical modelling software and data management tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Vault. Able to compose mechanical specifications and equipment schedules. Fluent with software like Word/Google docs, Excel/Google sheets. High attention to detail, creative and proactive. Articulate, able to work to tight deadlines. Full Driving License Project Engineer Qualifications: Formal education in Mechanical Engineering (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or BEng/MEng Degree) combined with a proven track record of 5+ years of experience within the municipal or industrial wastewater sectors. Chartered registration (CEng) in Mechanical Engineering will be considered as an advantage.
