Our client is seeking a proactive Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is a varied role involving the design, development, and delivery of bespoke materials handling systems, taking projects from concept through to installation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
- The Mechanical Design Engineer will manage engineering aspects of projects from initial design concept through to overseeing manufacture and installation
- Produce 2D and 3D general arrangement drawings and system layouts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop engineering solutions including conveyors, structures, access platforms, walkways, chutes, and associated equipment.
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings, models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Work closely with customers, suppliers, project managers, sales teams, and manufacturing departments to deliver successful projects.
- The Mechanical Design Engineer will attend site visits to take measurements, support installations, and oversee commissioning activities.
- Produce technical specifications, manuals, and engineering documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement by challenging existing designs and identifying innovative engineering solutions.
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Experience producing GA drawings, detailed designs, and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of fabrication, steel, metal, sheet metal, and special-purpose machinery design, ideally conveyors or materials handling equipment.
- Experience with BOM management and ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
