About the Role:
We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operations. You will be at the heart of maintaining both reactive and planned maintenance activities to maximize production efficiency, service quality, and feed consistency, all while adhering to strict health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer position:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with the established schedule.
- Perform reactive maintenance tasks as required to keep operations running smoothly.
- Manage mill spare parts, ensuring stock levels are maintained and parts are sourced cost-effectively.
- Prioritize food safety in all maintenance activities.
- Swiftly address plant breakdowns, faults, leaks, and other technical issues to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Site Management to complete maintenance schedules on time and within budget.
- Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring all equipment is safely maintained.
- Monitor plant condition regularly to prevent unnecessary failures and downtime.
- Assist with internal hygiene audits, contributing to improved audit scores.
- Ensure the site remains electrically and mechanically safe at all times.
- Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce operational costs.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the workshop and work areas.
- Oversee contractors and manage Permits to Work to ensure compliance.
Skills and Experience of the Maintenance Engineer position:
- Multi-skilled Engineer with HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (Preferred).
- Strong relevant engineering experience in a similar role (Essential).
- Familiarity with planned maintenance systems, preferably in the food industry (Desired).
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation with an IOSH qualification (Desirable).
- Exposure to high-volume manufacturing and experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) or Lean methodologies (Desired).
- A strong focus on personal development and continuous improvement (Desired).
