We are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineering role focused on CNC programming, process development, and New Product Introduction (NPI) within a high variety, low batch precision environment. The role centres on supporting the Engineering Manager and acting as a key technical resource within the machining function.

Key Responsibilities of this CNC Manufacturing Engineer position:

  • Create, develop, and optimise CNC programmes for mill/turn and multi axis machining operations.
  • Support the introduction of new CNC machines and implement robust manufacturing processes from scratch.
  • Take ownership of 70% CNC programming and 30% process engineering, ensuring both are aligned with best practice.
  • Review drawings, models, and specifications to assess manufacturability and propose improvements (DFM).
  • Lead and support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including variants of existing products.
  • Work closely with design teams to review released drawings, provide manufacturing feedback, and suggest improvements.
  • Conduct toolpath simulation and verification (experience with Vericut highly beneficial).
  • Use CAM software (Solid CAM or other equivalents) to generate efficient toolpaths and machining strategies.
  • Identify process issues, implement root cause analysis, and lead continuous improvement activities.
  • Support out on the shopfloor, resolve machining issues, and optimise cycle times and tooling efficiency.
  • Collaborate with a mixed skill machining team across turning, milling, and combined mill turn capability.
  • Contribute new ideas, process enhancements, and improvements to existing workflows.
  • Produce setup sheets, tooling lists, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Play a role in maintaining quality, safety, and operational standards.

Experience & Skills Required of this CNC Manufacturing Engineer position:

  • Proven experience with CNC mill/turn or multi-tasking machining.
  • Strong CAM programming experience (SolidCAM preferred, but any CAM package considered).
  • Ability to develop machining processes from start to finish, including tooling selection, sequencing, and optimisation.
  • Experience with NPI and introducing new part variations.
  • Understanding of precision machining, tight tolerances, and complex geometries.
  • Solid problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Industry background flexible aerospace or precision engineering advantageous.
  • Candidates with as little as 6 months mill/turn experience will be considered if technically strong.

  • Join a team of seven Manufacturing Engineers with a mix of senior and junior backgrounds.
  • Team currently split between milling and turning specialisms this role bridges the combined mill turn capability.
