Your role involves developing and managing data and technology solutions that support the development of new medicines. You will play a key role in enabling data-driven clinical research and development through validated systems, high-quality data processes, and modern analytics solutions.
In this position, you will work closely with Clinical Operations, Data Management, Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, Quality, and external vendors to develop, integrate, and maintain GxP-regulated applications that support clinical trial execution, data reporting, visualization, and decision-making. Your expertise will help ensure that critical clinical systems and data solutions remain compliant, efficient, and fit for purpose throughout the clinical development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of eClinical processes and systems.
- Manage system configuration, user access, roles, and permissions for Medidata applications.
- Perform programming and reporting activities using software such as SAS, R, and Python.
- Support computerized system validation activities in accordance with GxP and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain MedDRA and WHODrug dictionaries, as well as synonym lists in Medidata Coder.
- Develop customized reports and data outputs to support clinical development needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for CDISC standards and related data structures.
- Ensure deliverables and processes comply with SOPs, GxP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance, support, and training to Clinical system users and other stakeholders.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and AI-enabled tools.
- Plan and develop data visualizations for clinical studies using Spotfire.
This is a full-time position based in Espoo or Turku, Finland, or Cambridge, UK. Orion supports a hybrid working model, with employees working onsite three days per week and remotely for up to two days per week. This role reports to the Head of Clinical Development Data Services.

What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, preferably in a scientific discipline such as Statistics, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
- 7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and systems used in clinical development.
- Previous experience with Medidata applications, including Cloud administration, EDC, Coder, or Clinical Data Studio.
- Advanced hands-on programming skills in SAS, R, or Python, along with strong data management capabilities. Knowledge of Spotfire is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, GxP requirements, and industry best practices.
- Interest in applying automation and AI-enabled solutions to improve programming efficiency and data quality.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Approved medical examination which also includes drug testing is required prior to employment. A security clearance will also be carried out prior to employment for the selected person.
