Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Technical Authority – Process Safety, based in Aberdeen., * Provide technical leadership, mentoring and expert advice to the wider organisation, were required.

Interaction with Industry.

Verification Activities to ensure compliance with Technical Standards, Design Performance Standards and Operational Performance Standards.

Facilitation of technical lessons learnt through the Lessons Learnt Database. Leading to the continuous improvement of Technical Standards and other Engineering Documents, Methods and Tools.

Verification of Engineering Methods and Tools.

Knowledge of industry rules, standards and guidance related to Process Safety, such as: ABS, DNV, API, IOGP, Energy Institute, ISO, IChemE / AIChE, Step Change in Safety, etc.

In addition to Process Safety, the Technical Authority shall also be the focal point for interaction with Accommodation and HVAC. Hence, familiarity with the safety critical functions and performance requirements of Accommodation and HVAC systems in the context of managing the risks of major accident hazards is expected.

Collaboration with Projects and Asset Operations in developing / reviewing Safety Cases and managing Safety Critical Elements.

Collaboration with Asset Operations in defining, reporting and analysing Process Safety Indicators.

Participation to incident investigations.

Familiarity with BowTieXP, Synergi Life and a Barrier Management solution (e.g., Enablon, Sphera, RiskPoynt) is advantageous.

Master’s degree in Process Safety Engineering or related discipline, Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience may be acceptable.
Experience Required:

Significant experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry. In particular, Projects and Operations phases of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) assets within an Operating Company and Contractor environments, or closely related industry.

Experience with Process Safety engineering and design is required. Experience with Accommodation and HVAC is advantageous.

Previous experience working as Principal Engineer / Lead Engineer is required. Previous experience working as Technical Authority / Subject Matter Expert is desirable.
