My client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Process Engineer to support the delivery of a key site-based capital project in Essex. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract position, suited to a senior engineer with strong EPC experience, COMAH exposure, and a proven background in design review and contractor interface.
The Role
- Serve as the process engineering focal point for the project.
- Lead and review process design deliverables throughout FEED, Detailed Design, Construction, and Commissioning phases.
- Provide first-line review and approval of contractor process deliverables, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, process design calculations, datasheets, vendor documentation, process control, and operating procedures.
- Plan and manage the transition from construction to commissioning and operations handover.
- Act as the interface between contractors and the site operations team to ensure all procedures and work instructions for operating the asset are well documented and fully embedded.
- Review and challenge all process control and safeguarding designs to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Required Experience
- Degree-qualified engineer in Chemical, Process, or related Engineering discipline.
- Proven experience reviewing and assuring contractor designs in EPC/EPCM environments.
- Experienced in supporting commissioning and operational handover.
- Proven experience working on COMAH-regulated sites.
- Confident decision-maker with the ability to assess risk and challenge design solutions.
- Comfortable working in a live operational environment.
