We have a PAYE contractor requirement for an asset mechanical engineer with an Oil & Gas operator client in Aberdeen.
Support the Mechanical Maintenance Team Lead in the provision of Rotating and Mechanical Equipment Maintenance Engineering support functions within the Operations group, ensuring all legislative, safety and environmental requirements are met competently. The role is mechanically biased but has a crossâdiscipline approach to reliability improvement across the company.
Provide dayâtoâday operational and Mechanical Engineering support and expertise to company North Sea assets for all nonâdrilling rotating and static mechanical equipment. Ensure the CMMS is fully adopted, functional and correct, and ensure offshore compliance with requirements.
Responsibilities â Reliability, Maintenance and Operations
- Provide medium/longâterm input to annual and LoF plans and budgets via obsolescence studies, optimisation opportunities and planning in support of company policies, plans and activities.
- Retain function of systems and equipment.
- Ensure operational integrity is maintained across all assets and risks from activities or impaired equipment are managed.
- Keep performance standards current for SCEâs and align assure routines with performance standards.
- Set spares holding philosophy in line with equipment lead time, condition, function, cost and LoF demands for all assigned areas.
- Use CMMS to conduct downtime reviews, identify commonâmode failures, perform trend analysis, MTBF/MTTR calculations, optimise PMRs and generate recommendations.
- Lead/participate in 5âWHY/RCA, FMECA, RCM/Maintenance Strategy Reviews, Reliability Improvement projects, CBM/CM review, BOM review, PMO, RRM, REM, LCC.
- Repair or replace equipment as required by business needs or wear, where replacement is likeâforâlike with no significant design change or support requirements.
- Develop design and installation specifications with commissioning plans, evaluate equipment and technical maintenance service providers, and participate in final checkâout of new installations.
- Manage major intervention works offshore with multiple vendors (e.g. turbine/compressor overhauls).
- Manage and report on Mainfield Opex budget for mechanical activities on assigned assets.
- Input and adheres to planning processes and shutdown activities, reviewing and advising on accuracy of 35/90âday shutdown/LoF/business interruption plans.
Interactions
- Act as Maintenance TA for assigned assets/areas and deputise for Maintenance Team Lead as required.
- Develop and maintain mechanical maintenance policies and procedures to support offshore/onshore activities and ensure technical integrity.
- Provide mechanical technical support guidance and decisionâmaking to other departments on all corporate matters, equipment design, selection and operation.
- Manage contracts for specialist or support services with relevant commercial advisors.
- Set schedule and participate in CMMS, SHE, technical, themed and vendor audits.
- Conduct site visits and reports on key vendors.
- Attend offshore as a technical expert to assist platform management of major interventions/projects.
- Interface with HSE, DECC, certifying authorities as directed by Maintenance Superintendent.
- Prepare annual and LoF budget submissions for assigned assets with Maintenance Team Lead.
Scope of Responsibilities & Additional Requirements
Offshore visits regularly (â4 times per year) to support onshore engineering profile and ongoing engineering work.
Essential
- Understanding of offshore production and utility systems.
- Proven ability to read and interpret critical engineering drawings, SLDs, schematics, P&IDs.
- Proven offshore and onshore experience.
- Computer literate (Microsoft packages, presentation, database systems, maintenance management systems).
- Ability to identify, investigate, audit and control technical change.
- Experience and understanding of rotating and static equipment types, including pumps, compressors, power generators, diesel engines, cranes, HVAC, refrigeration systems, basic unit control systems and process interactions and reliance.
- Safety Management Systems / Safety Case compliance.
- An understanding and application of relevant legislation.
- Experience of the management of dayâtoâday issues and troubleshooting operational plant and facilities.

Required Qualifications
- HND, Engineering Degree or similar.
- Attained/working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Relevant experience in Ops. and Maintenance Engineering.
