Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Drilling Engineer based in Aberdeen. This role has been released on a 7-8 months PAYE contract, working on our clients 2026 Wells P&A campaign. Please be aware applicants must be available to start within the next few weeks. The position will be based in our clients Aberdeen office with the potential for ad hoc offshore travel.

Job Overview

Responsible for drilling engineering, design and technical integrity aspects of well projects and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of projects.

Role Deliverables and Responsibilities:

  • Provides drilling engineering input to well construction, workover and abandonment projects.
  • Ensures projects are planned in full compliance with corporate policies, standards, procedures and guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements and are executed safely and efficiently.
  • Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies in support of Company’s objective to be an industry leader.
  • Supports well delivery efficiency with benchmarking and performance analysis.
  • Ensure detailed risk assessments are prepared for planned well operations and risks are managed and mitigated as appropriate.
  • Preparation of Well Feasibility Notes, Concept Select Reports, and Well Design documents.
  • Preparation of time & cost estimates for each project phase. Monitors expenditure.
  • Preparation of Drilling Programmes, Well Notifications and Consents, equipment lists etc.
  • Provide engineering support to well operations.
  • Interfaces effectively with other teams e.g. subsurface, projects, supply chain, finance to safely and successfully deliver the project.
  • Prepares and submits End of Well Reports in a timely manner.
  • Captures and closes out lessons learnt and analysis of NPT events.
  • Prepares and evaluates tenders. Acts as Technical Sponsor for certain contracts.
  • Supports the contractor management process by developing positive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Ensures contractor delivery against KPIs/scorecards.
  • Makes regular visits offshore to enhance onshore-offshore relationships and communications, participate in rig safety audits, promote and support Company’s Incident-Free Workplace drive.
  • Participates in the Wells’ duty rota and provides support to the Incident Management Team (IMT) in the event of a rig-related incident.

CMAPP Commitments and HSE Policy:

  • Promotes a positive Incident Free Workplace culture by driving HSES and process safety performance and regulatory compliance through adherence to company standards & procedures, including the Company CMAPP and HSES Policy.
  • Perform nominated emergency response role/duties and maintain the necessary competencies to perform these duties.

Degree in an engineering, technology or science discipline.

Work Experience:

Experience in a well engineering/operations role, including jack-up well operations.

Certifications:

  • Fully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority e.g. Level 4 IWCF, WELLCAP.
  • Offshore medical, survival and MIST certification.

Mandatory Training required:

All Company mandatory training as requested, including Compliance training usually provided annually.
