Are you a commercially driven professional with a passion for delivering high-impact construction projects? Then this may be the role for you. Orion Group is working with a Tier 1 contractor to source a Commercial Manager, who will play a pivotal role in one of Scotland’s most exciting new commercial developments. Initially based from our client's prestigious Glasgow-based office or Inverness, you will lead commercial activities during the tender and pre-construction phase. Upon contract award, you’ll transition to a site-based role in 2027 where you’ll manage the commercial delivery of the project on the ground in the Highlands. The preference is for you to be on site full time, but flexibility is provided to work a combination of site/or office to attend site regularly.
Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial strategy for the project from tender to completion.
- Prepare and review estimates, tender submissions, and contract negotiations.
- Drive financial performance, cost control, and value engineering initiatives.
- Manage risk, procurement, supply chain relationships, and commercial reporting.
- Act as a mentor and leader to commercial staff, championing professional development.
- Ensure compliance with governance, GMCEs, and Business Cultural Framework.
Qualifications
- A qualified Commercial Manager with a BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
- Membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB (or working towards).
- Proven experience in structures-focused roles within the construction sector.
- Skilled in managing commercial teams, contract negotiations, and cost reporting.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts, procurement strategies, and digital tools.
