Job Title: General Operative (Contract)

Reporting To: Operations Co-ordinator
Contract Type: Rotational Shift β 4 days on / 4 days off
Working Hours: 07:00 β 19:00 (1-hour unpaid lunch break)
Flexibility: Additional hours during cruise season as needed
On behalf of our Client, we are looking to recruit a General Operative to provide multi-skilled support across departments, ensuring the smooth, safe and efficient operation of activities, maintenance and marine services.
Key Responsibilities Operational Support
Monitor safe areas and coordinate with facility users.
Support cruise operations (arrivals/departures), ensuring positive passenger experience.
Prepare quayside areas for vessel arrivals.
Assist with mooring and unmooring of vessels.
Support bunkering operations (water, fuel supply to vessels).Maintenance & Site Duties
General maintenance: cleaning, painting, debris removal.
Perform weed control (including use of backpack sprayers).
Conduct vegetation control using strimmers and hand saws.
Repair port infrastructure: roads, quay surfaces, potholes, walls.
Install/remove Heras fencing and other temporary boundaries.
Conduct winter maintenance as required.Marine Support
Assist marine crew operations (Deckhand/Coxswain support).
Carry out maintenance on vessels and routine vehicle checks.
Support safe pilotage services alongside Lead Coxswain and Pilot.Emergency Response & Compliance
Participate in emergency drills, oil spill response, and statutory safety exercises.
Ensure safety of passengers, crew, colleagues, and visitors; report any safety concerns.
Assist emergency response teams during incidents.Other Requirements
Willingness to undertake required training and exercises.
Flexibility to meet changing operational demands.
Perform other duties as required to support business operations.
