Reports To: Marine Crew Manager

Our client is currently seeking a motivated Deckhand or Marine Crew Member to join their highly experienced team in Invergordon. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic marine environment alongside professionals who are passionate about delivering safe and efficient pilotage services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the safe and efficient operation of vessels in support of pilotage and port operations
  • Carry out deck duties as directed by the Master or senior crew members
  • Ensure vessels are clean, well-maintained, and ready for operation
  • Support the delivery of marine crew objectives and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Follow health and safety regulations and promote safe working practices at all times
  • Man, operate and assist maintenance of all marine craft
  • Ensure the ability to safely return marine craft to a safe haven
  • Carry out mooring operations – including tying up, providing services to, and letting go of vessels
  • Maintain the premises, facilities and equipment (including but not limited to general ground maintenance, painting, litter picking and any other general maintenance duties as required)
  • General marine duties such as debris recovery, oil spill response and general launch maintenance
  • Work on a rota system to meet the needs of the business (the marine crew currently work on a fixed 4-week rota)
  • Supporting the training and development of crew members
  • Plan and carry out maintenance for craft, equipment, and facilities and to complete marine craft checks
  • Perform other duties as required to support operational needs

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in marine operational environment or similar role would be beneficial
  • Relevant marine qualifications or experience: RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate (desirable) - candidates with less qualifications may be considered; First Aid certificate or working towards (desirable); Offshore Sea Survival (desirable)
  • Self-motivated with proactive, hands-on approach
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks
  • Ability to learn on the job and follow instruction from senior crew
  • Ability to work as part of a close-knit team in a challenging marine environment
  • A flexible attitude and readiness to adapt to operational needs (previous experience working on-call/ out of hours would be beneficial)
  • Committed to health and safety standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good problem solving skills
