Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Site HSE Advisor to join a major solar plant construction project based near Oakham, Rutland. Working on behalf of our client-a leading global player in the renewable energy sector-you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible execution of on-site works.
This is a site-based position with significant autonomy and requires a proactive and collaborative professional with proven experience managing HSE on complex infrastructure or energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and enforce compliance with all HSE requirements, CDM regulations, and UK safety legislation across the project site.
- Support and monitor all contractor and subcontractor activities to ensure alignment with site-specific safety standards and procedures.
- Review and manage risk assessments, method statements, induction programmes, safety plans, and audit schedules.
- Drive proactive safety culture through daily toolbox talks, safety campaigns, training, and inspections.
- Oversee environmental compliance including ESIA, ESMP, water usage, and community impact during construction.
- Maintain robust HSE reporting and incident investigation processes, ensuring lessons learned are captured and communicated.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders, regulators, and internal teams to meet project and compliance obligations.
Requirements
- Proven HSE experience on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, ideally within the energy or renewables sector.
- Recognised HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent), with strong knowledge of UK health and safety and CDM regulations.
- Strong auditing, inspection, and reporting skills, with a track record of driving improvement in contractor performance.
- Experience supporting environmental and social performance on construction projects is highly desirable.
- Ability to work autonomously in a site-based role, and confidently liaise with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
