Construction Site HSE Advisor - Solar Plant

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Site HSE Advisor to join a major solar plant construction project based near Oakham, Rutland. Working on behalf of our client-a leading global player in the renewable energy sector-you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible execution of on-site works.
This is a site-based position with significant autonomy and requires a proactive and collaborative professional with proven experience managing HSE on complex infrastructure or energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and enforce compliance with all HSE requirements, CDM regulations, and UK safety legislation across the project site.
• Support and monitor all contractor and subcontractor activities to ensure alignment with site-specific safety standards and procedures.
• Review and manage risk assessments, method statements, induction programmes, safety plans, and audit schedules.
• Drive proactive safety culture through daily toolbox talks, safety campaigns, training, and inspections.
• Oversee environmental compliance including ESIA, ESMP, water usage, and community impact during construction.
• Maintain robust HSE reporting and incident investigation processes, ensuring lessons learned are captured and communicated.
• Coordinate with local stakeholders, regulators, and internal teams to meet project and compliance obligations.

Requirements

• Proven HSE experience on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, ideally within the energy or renewables sector.
• Recognised HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent), with strong knowledge of UK health and safety and CDM regulations.
• Strong auditing, inspection, and reporting skills, with a track record of driving improvement in contractor performance.
• Experience supporting environmental and social performance on construction projects is highly desirable.
• Ability to work autonomously in a site-based role, and confidently liaise with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
